The blog for EXPELLED: No Intelligence Allowed:

Ben Stein has created a documentary with the goal of bringing attention to the scientific community’s suppression of evidence that is supportive of Intelligent Design.

I’m no dogmatic darwinist… if information suppression is really going on, i want to know about it.

I have no doubt that Stein can make a strong case for discrimination in the scientific community.  But I’m skeptical that he will produce anything that can be called information suppression.

It remains to be seen…

A NY Times article discusses Dr. Homer Jacobson’s retraction of a paper he published in 1955 because it was being incorrectly used to support creationist arguments. Well done Dr. Jacobson. Long Live Science.

My Afterlife

Some would say their soul survives into the afterlife. Maybe.

We don’t really have a good definition for the concept of a “soul.” For many, it is defined as that part of a person which, after death, continues to exist.

My soul? My afterlife? That part of me that continues to experience reality and isn’t just an invisible cloud of energy, but bears some semblance to who I was on earth?

My children! My afterlife will be my children. To some degree, they are me. So, I’ll still be here walking around in the form of genetic predispositions.

A Phillip Larkin Poem

This Be The Verse

They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.

But they were fucked up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another’s throats.

Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don’t have any kids yourself.
